Rev. Steven E. Swope began to serve among us on August 1, 2010. He was ordained into ministry in 1983 and led churches in Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky, before specializing in transitional interim ministry in California for ten years.
Rev. Steve has degrees from Heidelberg University in Ohio and Harvard Divinity School in Massachusetts and has done continuing education in pastoral care, small-group leadership, and conflict theory.
Rev. Steve has extensive experience in worship and preaching, adult education, and community leadership. He chairs the Day Center Task Force, which coordinates a daytime drop-in center for the homeless, and is leading a project to expand that center’s ministry.
Steve is a history buff, loves to travel, and enjoys cooking and musical theater. He is married to Mary, a University of Missouri employee. They have six adult children from previous marriages, and two grandchildren.
