What is
Como Mission Experience?

Como Mission Experience is a justice oriented, hands-on, faith based mission experience that provides the opportunity to grow spiritually and glorify God by serving God's children in need.

Centrally located in the heart of Missouri, Como Mission Experience is housed at The United Church of Christ in Columbia, aka "Como."  Our Como Mission Experience Partners are various volunteer organizations that serve the city of Columbia, as well as the surroundings rural areas.

Columbia undergoes a vast exodus of volunteers over the summer, often times leading to those in our community who utilize these organizations not being able to rely on the provided resources.  This is where we have been called to action.  Como Mission Experience seeks to provide more services to area agencies in a time when some of their help diminishes and to give to those in need.

The average trip is expected to be four to five days, but can be more or less.  The day you arrive at Columbia United Church of Christ, you will be greeted by a member of the church.  As you settle in, you will be given the binder of your schedule.  These schedules are made with the interests of our Como Mission Experience Partners and you in mind.

The typical day is jampacked full of adventure.  You will be engaging in two volunteer shifts each day with our Como Mission Experience Partners.  The first shift will be in the morning, from around 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by lunch, then the second shift will be in the afternoon, from around 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  In the evenings, you are welcome to explore the wonderful city of Columbia and its surrounding areas.  We will be providing a detailed brochure of things to do and places to see.  After an incredible day, you will come back to Columbia United Church of Christ for a good nights sleep.

On the final day of your Como Mission Experience, there will be a time for reflection over the previous week.  As you depart, we hope that you carry on the work and knowledge of this experience in your daily lives and in your own communities.
